This is part of a conversation between myself and the mods... I'm posting this here mainly because I don't want to rewrite all of this. Yay new stuff that I've been working on since March.

I suppose I should have sent the message from the start instead of sending my young and inexperienced protege to deliver it for me...

A week ago today, I sent a message teasing of a huge project that I needed help with, and asked for volunteers. I promised in return, that today, I would explain this project more. Here's that explanation.

Gentlemen and Ladies, we're building a Hub. Not just any hub. The L33tserv hub. I got the idea from Oracle deciding to be dick faces and requiring all website applets be ran with a certificate.. these run for about $200 for the cheap ones. I thought to myself.. "All popular browsers have to conform to this... so how do I get around it..." So I decided I was going to build a new browser.. When push came to shove, I didn't like that idea anymore, so I decided to convert everything into a desktop program that can be updated from an update server. Razz

Anyways, here are the updates in list form since I don't want to type a whole lot.

- The website is being phased out, as well as the forums. If you haven't noticed by now, the forums have shrunk. This is because the forums are being converted to off-topic use only. All important things will be handled in the Hub's forums, which will be located in the L33tserv HUB. (Hunter Unit Broadcaster).

- The HUB will be a desktop application, and can run on ANY current OS.

- The HUB will contain everything that the website had, all features planned for the website + more. So yeah, you'll be able to message players in game, see if your friends are online, manage what will be your common bank from there and more.

- Perhaps some of you have seen the phrase L33t token just hiding around since April. A L33t token will be a virtual currency that can be used to trade for weapons and items in the L33tserv shop (in the hub) and play mini-games to win prizes (In the Hub). Items will then be retrieved via a quest in game. You can obtain them for free during special events, but otherwise, this will be a paid service. (I.e., you'll have to buy them).

- We will be launching a BB server as soon as Nyck gathers the appropriate files for me. The HUB will serve as a launcher for said BB. You can select from either an English or Portuguese client, as well as more languages as we need them.

- The hub will contain a Complete PSO Encyclopedia, just as the website was intended to contain.

-Along with that, it will contain tools, calculators, and for select staff, a modern proxy with advanced features... and a GUI.. because I love GUI's.



- The HUB will require you to login to use, but it will feature an offline function with most tools. You won't have access to any of the network stuff though.

Anyways, there's still quite a bit more, and you'll all find out about them as we're working on them, but yeah, that should sum it up for now. K thnx for your time. Bye.

Just an update on this. This project is still in the works, but before I can continue on it, I want to finish the new server infrastructure. I don't think I've actually revealed this yet or not, but here is the alpha look at what will be our new server.



This is actually Alpha Revision 38. It has been running on the server since October in DNS only mode, replacing out the DNS software Blue Crab graciously gave us during the massive DNS amplification attack that nearly all PSO DNS servers were experiencing. In time it will also come to replace Fuzziquer's PSOServer, which you can see running above it. It's not quite ready for that yet, so I have it's true server mode deactivated in the current release. It will also serve as the network backbone of the L33tServ HUB, hence why I'm not resuming work on the HUB until this is finished. I'd rather put out something that's useful, rather than a pretty box.. as that's what the HUB currently is without LuxServ to serve to fill in the gaps... a beautiful, empty, useless box.

For anyone who wants to play around with LuxServ in it's current Alpha state, here is a demo release. As I said, it only works as a DNS server... specifically only PSO:GC

Also, it is currently hardcoded to connect to L33tServ only. This will be changed in an actual public release later on, but I just don't need to change this yet.

Also, this was compiled using java 1.8.25. If you have anything below that, you will have to update your java, as the JRE will not allow this program to execute other wise.

LuxServ1_38a DEMO Release

Along with this news, some features will be scrapped. We will not now or ever be running a BB server, unless things hit the skids in the PSO community and I feel that we are morally obligated to release one. As things are now, there are plenty of good BB only servers out there with Excellent support and reliable staffing. I would like to mention LEGITS and Eden here for recommendation.

L33t tokens MAY also be scrapped. I have a new donation schema to incorporate once the new software is finished. Currently, it costs around $250 per year to keep L33tserv running. What I'll do is periodically, I will have fundraising quest events. I'll write an entire new line of quests; Some of which I've already started and have been holding back for this occasion. For every milestone hit by the community, I'll activate a new quest in the series. This milestone will probably be something simple like $10. If the goals are passed quickly enough, there may even be bonus awards given. We'll see how this goes as we get to it.

Other than that, I've just been extraordinarily busy lately, so I can't give an estimate on how long this will take... but we'll eventually get there.

one of the advantages is that it gives you a guid card of 9 or 10 digits automatically, which I love it
