Connection via mac?
Has anyone figured out how to connect via a macbook? I am trying to use internet sharing with my MacBook running 10.4 OS. I do have a desktop I could try but that would require moving it downstairs so I'd like to try this option first.
Also, really long time, no see.

lol hey! It is really long time no see! How've ya been? Anyways, you can connect via straight DNS now as we worked out all the PSO+ connection issues. If it's an issue of bridging through your mac, hang on a sec and I can probably find a fix.
Re: Connection via mac?
Alright, I just took this from this page: http://www.ehow.com/way_6166930_xbox-wireless-adapter-alternatives-laptops.html
Even though this is for xbox, it should work just as well for the GC. Under GC's main DNS use IP:173.214.164.235
Using a Mac Laptop as a Router
To use your Mac laptop, input IP numbers on both systems. This requires a basic knowledge of your home network setup.
Plug one end of your Ethernet cord to your Xbox 360 and the other end to your Mac's Ethernet port. Open System Preferences and then click on "Network." Make sure you are connected to Airport. Click on Ethernet and under the "Configure" drop-down menu, select "Using DHCP With Manual Address." Set your IP address to something that is not being used on either your local network or by your Airport connection. Click "Apply."
Next, enable Internet sharing. In System Preferences, go to "Sharing." Click on "Internet Sharing" and for the "Share Your Connection From" drop box, click on "Airport." Check the Ethernet box in the "To Computers Using" list below.
Click the box next to "Internet Sharing" and click "Start" once the dialog pops up asking if you want to enable sharing.
On your Xbox 360, go to "My Xbox" and then "System Settings." Select "Configure Network." For IP address, use one that is one higher than your Ethernet connection's IP address. For the router/ gateway, enter your MacBook's Ethernet connection IP address. Type in your appropriate DNS numbers and test the connection.
Even though this is for xbox, it should work just as well for the GC. Under GC's main DNS use IP:173.214.164.235
Re: Connection via mac?
I'm doing well. Recently started the urge to play PSO again now that the gamecube is back in my reach.
Okay. Here is what I'm trying.
The IP adress my computer uses from the airport:
10.0.1.12
The IP address I am setting for the ethernet:
10.0.1.10
In the GC menu
IP: 10.0.1.11 (1 higher than the ethernet)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 10.0.1.10
Primary DNS: 173.214.164.235
Secondary: Blank
Trying this setup, I get error 102

Try setting your GC's network settings to automatic

Hmm.. error 101 is closer to the mark we want. Error 15 usually refers to a cable issue if I'm not mistaken, so you might need a crossover cable instead.

I am using an ethernet to connect my gamecube to my laptop if that's what you mean.

Actually, its nothing to do with cable type at all. I was wrong. Error 15 is a dchp issue, meaning go ahead and put the manual settings back in. after you do, i'll check the server log and see if it made any sort of connection
Re: Connection via mac?
Attempting now.
102 again.

Hmm, server didn't even detect anything. Double check the configs for anything wrong, then try again. I'm hoping for you to either get error 101 again, or to be able to get in.
Re: Connection via mac?
hmm, still 102. I'm off to bed for now. I may try moving my desktop down for a bit to try that out.

Hi, Mac osx 10.4 is a bitch
Can you upgrade at all? are you on intell?
Go in your system prefrences
then go sharing Then click internet sharing
Shair From wifi and click the entehrnet box
Then go to your network tab
and have enthernet as useing DCHP with own IP
and give your self 192.168.1.2
on the cube use auto in the setting and try then,
change the DNS in the cube though.

Re: Connection via mac?
install vmware and install windows xp inside that vmware. and then use it as a dns server. it will work since vmware has the ability to give each virtual machine its own ip address on the network.
I have vmware fusion 3.0 for mac. if you want it u can get it from me. it incldes a .dmg and a key maker. I know it works because i have installed it for all the noobs at work.
this will solve all your problems. This is the Best Solution other then having a old computer to act as a dns for the gamecube.

Re: Connection via mac?
I only ask about the mac, because it would be a major pain to move my desktop downstairs where the gamecube is. However, another thought would be to get some kind of video converter so that I can plug in the gamecube to my monitors. The question is, what kind should I get?

this seems to be the best bet, but i'm wondering if there are cheaper options?

You can also use:
- VirtualBox
- Parallels

Virtual Box is a open source nightmare, I never could get it to work right with my VM's,
and Parallels, is weird.
VM has been the best
also OP, You can use that box to do exactly what you want. (I plan to pick one up)
I am going to get to work on my mac conection guide soon, you got skype or msn? or Imessage? well be easer to help via that.

Re: Connection via mac?
I beleve there is something wrong with OSX that is not leting everything pass though.
I found this network bridge and its at a cheap price
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704044
and its like 23 bucks plus what ever is needed.
I chose aganst with virtualizing XP because of his system ram is at 1gb and well we all know vms will take ram like crazy.
I might have to buy one of them now..
I do hope this product will work, I've had very good luck wit he apple airport extreme and would recommend it also more then the other product I had listed but the price point is what kills most people. I have used mine for about two years and just love it to be honest.
I love the fact it can stream music from itunes just so stupidly easy. That feature alone is worth a hundred bucks.
So keep in touch OP and let us know what happens.

You mentioned his system ram is at 1gb, why not max his ram out to further help his gameplay...(I max mine out despite overclocking just so I have the extra ram if needed) - ram at 1GB-4GB is very cheap....it's the 8GB ram which are getting harder to find at good prices.
how many slots does he have left, and what are the current ram size he already has installed in the sockets?

Can we keep to on topic here? Spade88, if you're not going to post anything related to the issue at hand, then don't post anything at all.
Anyways, Buu, do you still play on Schthserv? If so, how do you connect there, as we can use whatever you use to connect there to connect here.

Back in the day I use to connect to that server for PSOBB - but of course I grew sick of PSOBB so I switched back to the xbox version.
I used VirtualBox since it is free, and I used it for windows not mac Kroniedon...
