- No offline single player.
- No LAN games.
- Buy and sell items for real money.
- Must be connected to the Battle.net to play.
No offline single or LAN? What, because of cheating? What was wrong with Open and Closed Battle.net for that purpose? All they effectively did was kill off Open for no other reason than to restrict the way people are able to play the game.
Or maybe it's because of
As for the buying and selling of items for real money, it sounds like worse of a scam than Schtserv's "donations". You not only have to pay a fee to Blizzard to list your items for auction, but they will apparently get a second cut once you actually sell. eBay doesn't do that, and you're actually buying real, tangible items. Plus, I just hate the idea of real money being involved in gameplay. As if some people aren't privileged enough in the real world - now they can just carry that over into games and buy what used to require a serious time investment or some form of skill.
"It’s a trend we’ve been moving towards. Obviously StarCraft 2 did it, WoW authenticates also. It’s kind of the way things are these days. The world of gaming is not the same as it was when Diablo 2 came out." ~ Senior Producer Alex Mayberry
"The way things are" is such a piss poor argument - for everything in life, not just games. Games don't just happen, as if the creators have no say in the matter. But it's true, the world of gaming is not the same as it was when Diablo II came out. It sucks now. And if anyone is responsible for this "trend", it's Blizzard in the first place.
I think I'll be playing Torchlight instead.
