I have to wonder about some people.
I realize that this community is really kind of stagnant at this point...let's be honest, PSO is so old by now. I doubt I've even booted it up for any respectable length of time in over two years. All the same, I like that the people here are mostly tight-knit and respectful of one another. It's not hard to do and strengthens the atmosphere of the place when we behave.

Attacked by someone after literally years with no communication...it blows my mind, really. Why care? Has this sort of thing happened to any of you? It just seems way beyond rational. There are plenty of people I don't like, but at this point I don't even think about PSO's old community. Does this happen in a lot of places, or was PSO's fanbase just especially crazy?

I actually do have to say that PSO's fanbase is kind of crazy.. But it's certainly not the only time I've seen stuff like this happen. Back in high school actually, I remember several times where I'd see people just chit-chatting, and one of them will bing up an incident from like the fifth grade, then one of the people they're talking with I guess remembers the incident and gets all worked up and they start arguing until it eventually ends up with a "no, fuck you." followed by the two not speaking to each other for.. Sometimes several weeks.

Re: I have to wonder about some people.
I think the fact that you compared it to high school says a lot in itself, haha. After playing Guild Wars 2 and joining a great community, I look at PSO in the past and it just seems...off. It was such an awful community and you can definitely tell that some of the individuals don't want to let it go for some reason.
This Fossil guy...it's like he's living four or five years in the past, still believing the same incomplete story and still pissed at people for nothing important. It's kind of weird, like...is this guy going to stalk me? What could he possibly have to be so offended about as a mostly dissociated third party?
Hell, Cranberry went out of her way to ban me way back in the day and I can't even bring myself to give a shit about that or anything else. What is it about people clinging to the worst things and why did PSO - a game revolving around lucky drops - have such poor luck itself within its past community?

Re: I have to wonder about some people.
I wouldn't say ALL of the PSO community is awful.. But certainly a great portion of it.. Look at Scht and PSOWorld for example.. Sure that may be where I basically started out PSO online.. But now.. Just no.
However, there are some smaller PSO communities that I've come to really like. specifically.. Us, some of PSOPalace.. And a maybe some of Eden. I love the calmer, quieter communities like this (can't you tell by my awesome postcount?) But seriously though, I like it here.
There's actually one community I really liked for a good while.. And believe it or not, I'm actually talking about Grand Theft Auto 4.. And on the X360..
I actually had a lot of fun just screwing around in free mode with completely random people. And why? Probably because they were just there to actually have FUN. There was nothing like arguing about drops or how X person goes about doing Y task and whatnot, Just a bunch of random people derping around in the city and having a little fun.
Fir the most part, I actually have a little problem with pretty much any community, and the larger it is, the more uncomfortable I am. Basically just because I'm shy and I HATE crowds. Come to think of it, Most game communities I've ever gotten involved in, I only originally did because SOMEONE ELSE dragged me there. XD

Oh, well yeah, I can't really comment on how it is at present. Years ago it was pretty terrible...that's mostly what I think of. PSO's community was kind of at an awkward size.

Re: I have to wonder about some people.
I saw his post, you give him to much attention, as you saw, not many ppl posted, PSO is just a game part of a franchise and it's decline cannot be stopped, so despite fossil attitude there isn't all that much to moderate and complain, if he feels happy doing stuff like that then let him, gamefaqs pso playground is so small that hardly anything comes out of it.
It's a demonstration of what happens when old players talk to new players seeking nostalgia, old players bring old grudges and they always appear in the most insignificant topics.
From my own experience, maybe he knows the full story, maybe you can prove him wrong, but in the end he will simply have that grudge, he will find a way to still have a grudge.
Pretty much with any other game i simply play and ignore anything that may happen, if my gameplay is noobish or if i did something wrong, i use that to improve but i never felt the need to reply.
I like Mass effect alot and yet i never joined a forum dedicated to that game, PSO is pretty much the only game i talk about and unfortunately i don't know exactly why i pay so much attention to it.
Among the annoying ppl, there are ppl like you and aurelli, you 2 are a pleasure to talk to. I guess that's what keeps me in PSO for the time beeing.
In my own view you aren't a horrible person, actually it's quite the oposite, yes there will be always ppl trying to bring you down, don't let that affect you. (yes, easier said then done)

Ha, you're right - I did give him too much attention. It just blows me away that after all this time, there are still people who will act like that. Conversely, I've met some great people on Guild Wars 2. I'm glad to see that people like you are still around on games like PSO though, Kireek. You're definitely a hardcore fan!

Noob.
That's what I like about here. The only sort of flaming that ever goes on is friendly picking on one another in jest... and the occasional trolls who come around, but they come around so rarely and we deal with them so effectively that the only impact they have on us is to draw us even closer together as a community. I don't even consider the staff as friends anymore, but more like family. Even some of the non-staff as well (Kireek you can join in on all the family wub even though you're not staff ). What I find most impressive here is that all the people here get along exceptionally well. Even former enemies of one another co-exist peacefully ,albeit they never actually interact much at all, but still peace is peace.
For a moderator to begin an assault though.... It's a very very very poor representation of the organization they're supporting. Grudges are one thing. Everyone who knows me knows that I never forget anything. It can be 20 years from now and I will still remember word for word every conversation I've ever had with each of you.... but still, to act upon those grudges, especially under the mantle of moderator and representative... it's downright shameful. For those of you wondering, that is exactly why I never bothered banning Lee when he came here. It's why I let him continue shaming himself, Schtserv, and everything else he represents.... all the while preserving our own integrity. Before they make their choice, let others see the battles between the forces. They will always choose the stronger force.... and honor and integrity will always win. I'm betting that pretty soon Fossil will regret his actions, just as I'm sure Lee now regrets his (which he'll regret even more when I finally get off my lazy-ass and finish this port... We could finish it now, but I've been way too lazy).

I enjoy things here, i mean i doubt i can help with any tech related expertise but i always like to contribute.
I don't seek credits but i enjoy helping others achieving a goal.
I also added a link here on my blog a few days ago, i mean this community/website/projects seem fantastic so i don't see a reason not to support.

We also enjoy having you here. Just having upright community members here like yourself is a big help and contribution, not to mention all of your other dev work (Which I'll probably have a use for a bit later if you want to help me with a few things).

Well, when I wen't to replace some hardware inside the machine, my drivers went nuts, even though they're supposed to be compatible. When I went to do a restore point restore, chkdsk promptly told me that my hard drive was completely corrupt and insisted on fixing it for me... instead, Chkdsk decided to do all the corrupting for me xD. At least I have some of the important things backed up, and what I lost is easily replaceable.
Re: I have to wonder about some people.
your data can be recovered. as long as you dont over write it. U can use getdata back NTFS to do it. Next time to a drive image.

It had to be overwritten. The whole thing was fucked. xD It's alright, it needed to be cleaned anyways.

-At the very least i can look forward to my children, & my children's children, & their children having a place to play my PSO.
Ain't that right great-great uncle Kroniedon?
Why i still remember that bet i made with your great-great uncle like it was yesterday, how we would never be willing to pay off decades of cost for server time on that one game that a few people knew about, and even fewer have tried, and even fewer than that stuck with it, but continued to support it long after the development team had given up & decided it was "time to move on", because frankly, who would even still enjoy that creation, i mean with time, everything ages, everything dies off, it looses it's gleam, it's appeal, the magic & wonder is gone, but that great-great uncle of yours sure proved me wrong, that he did, yes siree bob, that he did.
And you see kids, its those dedicated few that made it possible for you to lead the lives you have today, full of countless item drops, and modified hand selected quest, with which of course you may even make your own, never let it be said that they were not great people to look up to, for they were, and if they were here now, surely they would be yelling, not just because their hearing aids were acting up again, but because they have that passion inside them, that burns & tells them, "I can do more, i can still give something that has yet to be given by others, i will not be shackled by mediocre restraints & make it so that the next installment is barely better than the last, or that this is all we could give, no, there is always more we can give, & give i shall."
Now move aside Lars, i have some fragging to catch up on.

I totally forgot about this topic. But yeah, poor GameFAQs.
On another note, I can play PSO on one of my monitors in here now, so maybe I'll mess around later.
