New Widescreen

Been playing around with a new widescreen patch (old patch looks like this). Here's some screens captured directly with the new screenshot feature:

Regular 4:3


Widescreen 16:9


The same widescreen image, resized to actual 16:9 (slightly blurry due to image processing). Might need to view this in a new tab to prevent the forum from cropping it.


The main difference is the HUD no longer changes size/position, so it stays at the edges of the screen and there's no weirdness when bringing up the menus. The area map doesn't show a larger area than it should, the minimap is back to normal, the blur effect during boss/PB cut-scenes is fixed and reflection/invisibility works properly. The camera in 16:9 mode is zoomed out by a tiny little bit due to rounding differences, it's not noticeable while playing.

These changes (and the screenshot functionality) aren't enabled yet but will be in the next build after r200...

Testing out another new feature... this should be a screenshot of my current game in progress (served directly from my wii):

If it's not there (or it's a different game) I probably got sick of hunting rappys. If it is there try refreshing to see if it changes.

I left my wii on overnight (at the PSO title screen) and it mysteriously crashed and ended up back at HBC... will have to try to reproduce it with logging active.

More rappy hunting today... with success!

Hmm, how would i go about installing this? Re-download and install? A patch? And would i need to re-verify all the games again? I'm at 105 games installed and still got another 20-30 i plan on buying.

For some odd reason Devo stopped asking to turn on Progressive scan mode, i still haven't had a chance to install the new one with the updated wide screen. So i hope that'll fix the progressive scan. I'll do it tomorrow after my 48 hr work week Q_Q (damn schedule changes).

Any clue why it stopped asking to turn it on? I haven't changed any settings as far as i can remember, just installed more games. Tony Hawk's Underground 1 n' 2 & Need For Speed Underground 1.

My only guess is i might of updated USB Loader GX (after downloading cover art it always ask to update itself).




P.S.

Is there a way to delete a specific game file or single game file with devo? Like say for example i bought all the sims games and made save files, would there be any way to delete just the sims files and leave the rest untouched? This is all hypothetical of course, the only sim game i like is Sim Ants for SNES. Might get some for GC though since my sis loves em.

You probably selected "no" at some point when a game asked you to use progressive scan, once you do that it won't ask again unless you hold the B button on a gamecube controller when booting a game. However the new build overrides this and the game will always show the prompt if the wii has been set to 480p.
If you want to delete individual save files from the memory card you have to use Dolphin.
