Connected to server but no menus show
Hi everyone. It's been many years since I was online with PSO. I have PSO Plus JP edition working fine with Devolution offline. I decided to try online this evening. I've connected to the server and see the ship but there are no menus and I can't see any other characters present.
Any suggestions? I followed the L33T video guide for connection settings.
Thanks everyone.

Assuming you've set up everything correctly the problem may just be that the server needs a reboot. From the sounds of it that's likely the case as you can connect to the server but can't seem to get any further. Unfortunately I myself at the moment can't reboot the server due to PC issues. We'll have to wait til someone else gets on. In the event that that is not the issue we'll have Togo from there and try to find a solution

Okay thanks for the quick response
I wondered if it was a server issue. Guess I'll just have to wait for an update. Thanks again.

Re: Connected to server but no menus show
Okay I'm in
It must have been the server as you thought. I joined the first lobby for 15 minutes or so, there was no-one around but it seemed stable enough. There was some lag but then I'm uploading a large file to my online backup storage at the same time so maybe it will be faster next time I try.
Anyway thanks for the feedback.

I'd join you myself if I could but I just sent away my copy of the game for "repairs" xD
In case you have trouble finding someone to play with more times you can always try to arrange something in the arrangements thread here on the forum
Cheers

No problems, any time. And thanks :p My game disc has an awful alot of scratches, so much that it affects gameplay xD But I guess that's what you can expect when you've put in an awful alot of hours into the game :p So now I'm trying something that my friend told me about that will "repair" the disc xD

Re: Connected to server but no menus show
Which console are you using? A Gamecube? Last time I was playing it was on my Gamecube but I've just moved over to my Wii.
To play on your Wii you need to copy the PSO disk to your SD card or USB and run it from there. Once you've done that of course you'll never need the disk again and it's wireless so no need to run ethernet to your Gamecube.
I understand there are other benefits like being able to backup your save data and play with other controllers but I haven't got that far.
I've only just done it myself

Re: Connected to server but no menus show
Yeah I'm familiar with that method. A lot of people use that these days but I just prefer ol' school GameCube. I'm a sucker when it comes to physical media xD I already have means to backup my save data as is, partially thanks to Cpt N and Draco (I believe).edwinbradford wrote:Which console are you using? Besides I'm no longer interested in softmodding my wii :p Thanks anyways
Granted there are several benefits to softmodding of course, it's just not my cup of tea

You wouldn't have to worry about your disk getting scratched, for oneI3ot wrote:Granted there are several benefits to softmodding of course, it's just not my cup of tea

Re: Connected to server but no menus show
With all due respect I already know the pros with a softmodded Wii and running your games through there. With that said It's just not for me. I'm already well aware of how to softmod in case I'd ever change my mind, which however is very unlikely to begin with xDtueidj wrote:You wouldn't have to worry about your disk getting scratched, for oneI3ot wrote:Granted there are several benefits to softmodding of course, it's just not my cup of tea
Hope I didn't come across as rude now, if so that was not my intent

Re: Connected to server but no menus show
I completely understand. There's something very rewarding about playing on the original hardware and the Gamecube was a really clever product design in my opinion.
I only mentioned it in case it helped with your disc problem. Incidentally I replaced the laser in my Gamecube when I had disk errors. It fixed it completely and was an easy task but again you may not feel comfortable opening your console.
Hi tueidj. I didn't realize you were in this forum. Thanks for the fantastic software. I'm afraid I'm going to come back and ask for your help connecting to a PSO server on my local network at some point but I'll write down all the facts first to try and make it as simple as possible.
Thanks again for the new PSO lease of life

Re: Connected to server but no menus show
Indeed there is, most definitely ^^
And I figured The thought has crossed my mind before. If it comes down to it I might just as well go for it you know.
As far as the laser goes I've actually been meaning to get that one replaced xD My laser is pretty weak in its current state so I've definitely intended to have it replaced but never got around to it I guess. My first GameCube actually stopped working due to the fact that the laser gave up on me xD other than that it seems to work just fine. Gonna have to check around to see if I can find one at a decent price:p
