Ok, maybe it's not just for research purposes... FFV and FFVI are my 2 favorite FF games of all time...I mean come on, who doesn't love some classic Gilgamesh, or Galuf's no bullshit attitude.
Anyways, I've been playing through them, and I started thinking "Wow, even though I am working solo on this, my assets look like shit"... so I'm remastering them before I proceed.

Not bad. Kinda reminds me of Battlepaths, the poor mans Diablo. It was $1 on 360. The game was super damned good. Seem's the steam version is quite ahead. Might get it again.

I had to switch styles when I revamped the graphics. The old sprites were painfully out of place...lol

Some of my notes on each tile. Basically my own notes for how I'm building the engine:
- Tile Engine Notes:
? 11.Battle Phase Effects "import image tile, tertiary flag 0-?, time flag set to 0 so as to not overlap"; Do I need this? Maybe?
10. Character Emoticons "import image tile, emoticon flag 0-?"; Should Superscede everything else. Should always appear in the tile above the player cursor.
9. Secondary Effects "import image tiles for animation, animation flag 0-?"; Fireworks, fire, special effects, etc.
8. Time "import image tile, time flag 0-24";
Hours 0-24 in game clock, 24 being midnight. Hours 6-12 a varying shade of Green/Yellow,.12-18 no shade. 18-24 a varying shade of gray/black. 1-6 a varying shade of blue.
7. Weather "import image tiles for animation, animation flag 0-?, conditions flag 0-?";
Rain, Snow, Fire Storm, Sandstorm. Possibly Others.
6. Primary Effects "import image tiles for animation, animation flag 0-?"; blank in the editor
5. Scenery "import image tile, make transparent 0/1"; Do I want transparency or Translucense?
4. Primary Objects (interactable) "import image tile, occupied/enterable 0/1"; NPC Placement in the editor.
3. Background Decoration. Treat this special in the editor. Not available as a preset.
2. Background Weather Effects "import image tile, weather effect? 0/1/2/3/4/5"; Do I need this? Maybe add in a fog layer?
