How to connect with dolphin?

I bought a used copy of PSO Ep 1 and 2 plus. My GC then took a nice long siesta so I downloaded Dolphin (and it works really well). The issue is: I have no idea how to configure Dolphin to connect to the servers here so I can play online. I would need to first configure Dolphin, then configure the emulated GC, then set up PSO. I don't know how to do that. I have been playing in offline mode, which is fine but I would like to actually play with people online. Thank you in advance for any and all help.

OK, I figure out the plug-in and configured the emulator, but I still get an error when trying to connect:

"Failed to retrieve IP address from DHCP"

Any help?

All i know is on dolphin there is a Config button to enable BBA. Then from tools -> start netplay you can change where to connect to. I haven't tried connecting via dolphin in ages.

the dhcp error means the gamecube well in this case the emulator is not gett assigned an ip address from the router. it might help to configure it manually inside pso.
ill have to try connecting with dolphin one of these days. im not sure how the network emulation is implemented. I hope they implemented it close to how vmware/virtual pc does it. Really it should be getting a internet connection no differently then how a pc game running on the pc goes online as long as they implemented the easy way.

Netplay is for something completely different.

Hey guys I'm having a bit of trouble trying to connect via dolphin.
I fallowed the guide that was posted but my game seems to hang on connecting to the DNS server then errors out with error no.101

It looks like dolphin is connecting to tap correctly because when it doesn't it errors out about no ip assigned or something.

Not really sure how to fix it.

I just tried to connect to another private server and it worked so not sure whats going on.

I'm bidding on a pso disc for gamecube so I can hopefully play on wii via devloution (lost my disc for ep1&2 doh!)

I saw your attempted connections on the DNS log yesterday. You tried once from a Non-Plus ISO and once from a PSO+ ISO if I'm not mistaken. The server was down when you attempted to connect thanks to a small error I made in the new DNS server's shield code. It needed to be restarted. You should be able to connect fine as of right this second, though it may be out periodically tomorrow, as I'm doing some work to it.

Error 101 means something's preventing you from connecting to the Actual server, as you're clearing through the DNS Server just fine. If the main server console logs are to be trusted, they're showing you at least made it to the lobby select screen.

I saw you try to connect not to long ago via the DNS logs, but I'm guessing you got 101 again as I saw no connection on the main Server. Try using the non-plus ISO exclusively, as I'm suspecting it's an issue with PSO+ + Dolphin + Possibly the Fuzziquer Server Software we're currently running.

What's basically going on is you're connecting to the DNS server just fine and you're getting it's response just fine. The issue is getting you redirected back to the main server, and PSO+ is kinda picky with that sort of thing.

So TL;DR version, try using a non-plus ISO as your plus ISO just isn't wanting to accept the DNS Resolve through dolphin. I don't know enough about dolphin to speculate any further with connecting through it. If you can't connect using a non-plus ISO through dolphin, you're better off waiting until you can connect through the Wii, as there's really nothing further I can do.

Hey I just tried to connect on ep3 on my Wii U (the last attempt) as I'm waiting on my ep 1&2 in the post. hopefully when that comes I wont have an issue connecting via Wii U/Wii

xD I honestly have no idea how well Ep.3 will work with Wii, though I will say that currently I'm working on changing out the server software and Ep.3 is what I've been doing most of my testing with, at least as far as connecting goes, so it should work just fine.

Because when I wanna set up the provider options it says: could not find the device connected to the serial port 1. could not connect to the network. Does this mean the game cant find the memory card? Because in can create characters and it says saving so that works.

Dolphin does work online, but I'm not very knowledgeable on how it works. If I remember correctly you have to set up a bba emulator.

Also, serial port 1 is the bba port. Since you don't have a bba inserted(obviously with it being through an emulator xD) then it will pop up that message.

I hate to give you the run around, but you might want to look on Dolphin's forums for help regarding this, unless one of our Dolphin users can assist here?

Try setting a static IP in the connection options(inside the game)

I worked with McLovin over skype on this, but I'd assume your case would be similar. You'll have to set a static IP. In connection settings, under IP settings, instead of choosing "Automatically obtain IP" Set a static IP, one within your routers range and without fear of being used. I personally used 192.168.2.32, but it'll all depend on your router's configuration. Subnet mask is usually 255.255.255.0. The gateway should be set to your computer's internal address, and not the gateway address listed under your router's setting. Most routers contain a DCHP Client table if you need to look up your PC's Internal IP. You can also find it by launching command prompt and using the command "ipconfig". DNS should be set to the server IP and you should be good to go.

Hey guys..sorry to bump up an old thread but I was curious to see if I can get online using dolphin.

Is the above VPN emulation still required? Does anyone else access server using Dolphin Emulator?
